Serengeti Sopa Lodge (Serengeti National Park) – this resort’s restaurant offers an open dining area, spacious, airy and lots of light emanating from the floor to ceiling windows. This allows a magnificent view of the plains as well. The furniture is wrought iron chairs and wooden tops, all artistically done. The walls are painted in a mud red color with window like spaces holding artifacts found in the region. Behind the buffet area is a shimmering blue placement, like a glass mosaic, adding on to the theme. The restaurant also has a bar, which is set in a corner with a view of the Serengeti plains, the bar area is strategically placed with an uninterrupted view and has a terrace for seating with comfortable chairs.

It uses only the finest local ingredients available with an emphasis on healthy food including lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. On special occasions, the restaurant has an outdoor barbecue. Those who have lunch at the lodge will be served a selection of quiche, pizza and salads, or in cold weather spaghetti or curry & rice.

Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge (Route B144, Serengeti National Park) – located near the Grumeti River at the heart of the Serengeti, adjacent to the Western Corridor, this lodge is 335 km. west of Arusha. Diners and guests have the options of order a “Bush Lunch” (a four-course menu with active grilling of meats, along with salads, soups, and dessert and/or tropical fruits). After 6 pm, there’s the “Bush Dinner” (a five-course dinner is prepared on the blazing charcoal BBQ). There’s a choice of meat, fish and poultry that can be supplemented by vegetarian choices, salads, fruit and desserts from the set buffet. Also, a full safari bar is provided.

Both regional and international meals are available (even osso bucco). Vegetarians can order their own non-meat meals as well. 50% of the fresh food used for the meals served there is sourced from local farmers situated just outside of the conservation area and within 20 km of the lodge. The close proximity the Lodge’s local suppliers reduces its logistics carbon footprint.

Sukuma Museum (Bujora Cultural Centre, Mwanza) — The Sukuma tribe are one of the largest in Tanzania. This venue was set up as a community initiative to preserve the tribe’s tradition arts and culture in the form of ‘living history’. The museum, which was set up in the late 1960s by the late Father David Clement, welcomes around 2,000 visitors each year. Within the grounds are examples of traditional Sukuma buildings, including a Royal Pavilion and Dance Pavilion. Exhibits on display include drums, costumes, furniture and weapons. Guided Tour: 15,000 TZS (foreigners), 8,000 TZS (locals).
